Privacy Policy

Karaokai ("Karaokai", "we", "us", "our") operates karaokai.in (the "Service"), which turns a YouTube video into a karaoke video with the vocals removed and synchronized lyrics. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with.

1. Information we collect

Account information. When you register, we store your email address, name, and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text). If you use "Sign in with Google" instead, Google shares your email, name, and a unique account identifier with us — we never see or store your Google password.

Video processing data. The YouTube URL you submit, along with the video's title, channel name, thumbnail, and duration, which we fetch to show you progress while your karaoke video is being generated.

Generated files. The separated audio, transcribed lyrics, AI-generated background images, and final karaoke video created for your job. These are stored to deliver your video and are automatically deleted 7 days after the job finishes — your job's title and status stay visible in "My Videos", but the files themselves are gone after that window.

Payment information. Payments are processed directly by Cashfree Payments. Karaokai does not receive or store your card number, UPI ID, or bank account details — Cashfree shares only the transaction status and amount with us so we can credit your account.

Technical data. Your IP address is used briefly, in hashed form, purely to prevent abuse (for example, rate-limiting repeated login or sign-up attempts). We don't use it for tracking or profiling.

2. How we use this information

• To create and authenticate your account
• To generate the karaoke video you requested
• To email you when a video is ready or a job fails
• To process payments and maintain your credit balance
• To prevent abuse of the Service
• To comply with legal obligations

3. Who we share it with

We only share what's needed to run the Service — we do not sell your personal data to anyone.

• Google — if you choose "Sign in with Google", and via Google Analytics, which we use to understand site traffic (see Cookies below)
• OpenAI — used for AI background image generation and lyric processing; receives song title and lyric text, not your account details
• RunPod — runs the GPU processing (vocal removal, transcription, video rendering) on our behalf; receives the YouTube URL and processing settings for your job, not your login credentials
• LRCLIB, Musixmatch, Genius — looked up by song title/artist to find existing lyrics before falling back to AI transcription; no personal data is sent
• Cashfree Payments — processes your payment when you purchase credits

4. Cookies

We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. We also use Google Analytics to understand overall site traffic and usage patterns, which sets its own cookies and collects standard analytics data (such as pages visited and general location). We do not use this data to identify you individually, and we do not run advertising or ad-retargeting cookies on this site. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using Google's browser add-on.

5. Data retention

Generated audio/video files are deleted automatically 7 days after your job finishes. Account data is kept until you ask us to delete it.

6. Your rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct inaccurate information, or delete your account and associated data at any time by emailing support@karaokai.in.

7. Children's privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 18.

8. Security

Passwords are hashed, all traffic is served over HTTPS, and the background processing worker authenticates every callback with a private shared secret rather than exposing your session.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll update the effective date above. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated policy.
